TikTok has just unveiled a powerful new creative tool — AI Alive — designed to turn static photos into animated, story-driven videos, directly within the platform’s Stories feature.
With over a billion users worldwide, TikTok continues to lead the way in making creativity accessible to all. AI Alive is the platform’s first AI-powered image-to-video tool, enabling anyone — from casual users to experienced creators — to bring photos to life using intelligent animation and editing effects. The feature is exclusive to the TikTok Story Camera and offers a seamless way to turn still moments into immersive visual experiences.
What Is TikTok AI Alive?
AI Alive allows users to animate single images with cinematic movement, atmospheric effects, and subtle enhancements — no video editing experience required. Whether it’s a peaceful landscape or a lively group photo, AI Alive transforms photos into short-form videos that feel dynamic and personal.

How It Works
Getting started with AI Alive is simple:
- Open the Story Camera by tapping the blue “+” on the top of the Inbox or Profile page.
- Select a photo from your Story Album.
- Tap the AI Alive icon in the right-side toolbar of the edit page.
- Animate, enhance, and post your AI Alive Story!
Once published, your AI Alive story appears in the For You and Following feeds, as well as on your profile, giving your content wider visibility and engagement.
Built-In Safety and Transparency
As with all of TikTok’s AI features, AI Alive has been designed with trust and safety in mind. Uploaded photos, generation prompts, and the resulting videos undergo multiple moderation checks before reaching viewers. A final review takes place when a user posts their animated Story.
To ensure transparency, all AI Alive content will be labeled as AI-generated. TikTok also embeds C2PA metadata, which allows content to be identified as AI-created even if it’s downloaded and shared off-platform.
