Microsoft to cut up to 9,000 more jobs as it invests in AI

Why Is Microsoft Cutting Jobs?

Microsoft is embarking on a major transformation and investing a jaw-dropping $80 billion (£68.6 billion) in new data centres to power AI development. As companies race to lead in AI, many are reshaping their workforces to align with this new frontier. While Microsoft hasn’t laid out specifics about which departments will see the biggest changes, reports suggest that the Xbox gaming division might be among those hit hardest. Additionally, over 800 jobs will be cut in Washington state, particularly in Redmond and Bellevue and these are two places where Microsoft has significant operations.
