Perplexity AI, which is known for its powerful AI answer engine has introduced Comet, a new AI-powered web browser that aims to transform how entrepreneurs and creatives interact with the internet.
Comet is available to Perplexity Max customers for $200 per month and it promises to improve workflows and boost productivity by thoroughly integrating AI into everyday browsing.
A Browser for the Modern Internet
It is built on the Chromium platform which powers Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, Comet supports all common Chrome extensions and allows users to import bookmarks with ease.
What also distinguishes Comet from other browsers is its AI assistant which is available via a sidebar and transforms browsing from a series of separate activities into a seamless and conversational experience.
Users can use Comet to conduct sophisticated tasks such as scheduling meetings, sending emails and comparing products from various e-commerce sites without leaving the browser.
This level of automation is intended to reduce time for busy business people helping them oversee several projects and creatives juggling research and inspiration.
From Navigation to Cognition
Perplexity CEO by name Aravind Srinivas sees Comet as a change “from navigation to cognition,” in which the browser understands user intent and actively assists with information collection and task execution.
The AI assistant can access content from open tabs, reducing the need to manually copy and paste data and therefore making research and decision-making much more efficient.
What This Means for Entrepreneurs and Creatives
Comet provides entrepreneurs with a strong tool for accelerating market research, automating repetitive operations and improving decision-making speed.
With these advantages, creatives can profit from quick content summarisation, idea generation and easy management of web resources. Comet also intends to become an essential digital partner for innovative workers by incorporating AI directly into the browser.
While the $200 monthly membership may limit initial access, Perplexity intends to launch Comet more broadly on an invitation basis soon, ushering in a new era of AI-powered browsing that could challenge Google’s long-standing dominance.
