OpenAI has signed a substantial deal with AMD: the AI company is set to buy vast quantities of advanced chips, and also holds the option to acquire a 10% stake in AMD.
This is more than simply a supply arrangement; it’s also a significant investment in infrastructure. AMD stock jumped more than 30% on the announcement.

What this means for creators
Improved performance means that your AI tools (picture models, video generators, etc.) may become faster, more responsive, more stable.
The standard for quality will rise. The gap between “usable” and “exceptional” will be more important than ever.
If you construct or incorporate AI components in your creative toolstack, ensure your supplier has access to next-generation hardware.
What this means for entrepreneurs
Control over compute (hardware and supply chain) is no longer optional; it is strategic.
Participating in upstream contracts or co-investing in chip/hardware businesses may lead to success in next-generation AI infrastructure.
This indicates consolidation. Smaller AI platforms will need to compete through partnerships, narrow focus, or specialisation.
